Jim Hightower will speak at Occupy the World Food Prize 2013! October 16 - Save the Date!

http://www.jimhightower.com/

National radio commentator, writer, public speaker, and author of the book, Swim Against The Current: Even A Dead Fish Can Go With The Flow, Jim Hightower has spent three decades battling the Powers That Be on behalf of the Powers That Ought To Be - consumers, working families, environmentalists, small businesses, and just-plain-folks.

Twice elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner, Hightower believes that the true political spectrum is not right to left but top to bottom, and he has become a leading national voice for the 80 percent of the public who no longer find themselves within shouting distance of the Washington and Wall Street powers at the top.

Hightower is a modern-day Johnny Appleseed, spreading the message of progressive populism all across the American grassroots.

From June 21  News Conference announcing the “Occupy the World Food Prize” campaign in DMOccupy the World Food Prize Campaign’s over all goal: to use this yearly Pro GMO Corporate Agribusiness event to redirect the public discourse around our world food and farming systems. Much like the whole Occupy Wall Street movement has helped to re-cast the public discourse with the concerns of the “99% vs the 1%”, Occupy the World Food Prize Campaign hopes to get the general public to start seeing the challenges of feeding the world as needing to dismantle the corporate dominated World Food System that we currently have for more local base, sustainable forms of agriculture, both here in the USA and abroad.“Genetically engineered crops and agricultural modernization are designed to support the agribusiness industry, specifically in terms of the input costs associated with both. Supposed “modern farming” using GE seeds necessitates the use of irrigation, fertilizers, mechanical harvesters, etc.  It is estimated that 90% of profit gained by Monsanto input costs alone.  In 2011, America’s exports to India amounted to $17.7 billion of overall US exports.  Of these, chemical fertilizers constituted for $3.1 billion. ” Jess Reznicek - Occupy World Food Prize working group from June 2012 via pacis “Occupy the World Food Prize”The specific campaign goal is to influence the World Food Prize committee http://www.worldfoodprize.org/ to move away from being owned and controlled by the Global Pro GMO Corporate Food system to awarding World Food Prize recipients, whose work contribute to more local base, sustainable agriculture and to people and movements helping to dismantle the excising Global Pro GMO Corporate Food system.“The World Food Prize is for us in Iowa, what Wall Street is for the Occupy movement in NYC. The very same corporate/financial elites that run Wall Street are the same corporate/financial elites that own the World Food Prize and control the world food supply. ” Frank Cordaro - Occupy World Food Prize working groupTo this end, taking the lessons learned in DM during the Occupy the IA Caucus campaign,  we calling all those concern about the ‘common good’ and the survival of the life forces on our planet to come to DM in Oct and help us “Occupy the World Food Prize”

From June 21  News Conference announcing the “Occupy the World Food Prize” campaign in DM

Occupy the World Food Prize Campaign’s over all goal: to use this yearly Pro GMO Corporate Agribusiness event to redirect the public discourse around our world food and farming systems. Much like the whole Occupy Wall Street movement has helped to re-cast the public discourse with the concerns of the “99% vs the 1%”, Occupy the World Food Prize Campaign hopes to get the general public to start seeing the challenges of feeding the world as needing to dismantle the corporate dominated World Food System that we currently have for more local base, sustainable forms of agriculture, both here in the USA and abroad.

“Genetically engineered crops and agricultural modernization are designed to support the agribusiness industry, specifically in terms of the input costs associated with both. ” Jess Reznicek - Occupy World Food Prize working group from June 2012 via pacis “Occupy the World Food Prize”

The specific campaign goal is to influence the World Food Prize committee
http://www.worldfoodprize.org/ to move away from being owned and controlled by the Global Pro GMO Corporate Food system to awarding World Food Prize recipients, whose work contribute to more local base, sustainable agriculture and to people and movements helping to dismantle the excising Global Pro GMO Corporate Food system.

“The World Food Prize is for us in Iowa, what Wall Street is for the Occupy movement in NYC. The very same corporate/financial elites that run Wall Street are the same corporate/financial elites that own the World Food Prize and control the world food supply. ” Frank Cordaro - Occupy World Food Prize working group

To this end, taking the lessons learned in DM during the Occupy the IA Caucus campaign,  we calling all those concern about the ‘common good’ and the survival of the life forces on our planet to come to DM in Oct and help us “Occupy the World Food Prize”
